With each passing day, with each passing breath, with every blink of an eye there are different technologies being introduced and the one’s that have been created, immense analysis is being conducted to make sure improvements are made to make them more user friendly, creative and innovative. Samsung and Apple are the two products on the lips of every smart phone user. People have been raving about them so much so that they are queuing in lines for hours to get their hands on the phones. Apple has handed the next blow to Samsung with its introduction of the new iPhone 5.
Apple held an event to formally introduce the phone on September 12, 2012. Apple began taking orders on 14th of September and unbelievably over two million orders were received within 24 hours so much so that the initial demand for iPhone 5 exceeded supply on the stores when it was officially launched on September 21, 2012 , to which Apple described as “extraordinary “, with the pre-orders sold twenty times faster than its previous models.
iPhone 5 added everything the customers hoped for. The screen has become larger from 3.5 to 4 inches, has the same width but it is taller. The iPhone 5 is thinner and lighter than previous models the official stats tell us it is 18 % thinner and 20 % lighter than iPhone 4S. It will be available in black which will excite some users who are picky about colors and the phone has more than 200 new features in iOS 6 which is amazing.
The iPhone 5 also has an updated A6 processor and a few nice camera upgrades. The pick of the features appears to be a new panorama mode that can capture a 28-megapixel panorama image by stitching together images. The front camera of the iPhone 5 has also been updated and now supports 720 pixels video.
There are however some drawbacks as Apple may say it has completely redesigned the iPhone, but a lot of similarities remain. The display may be larger but it offers the same 326 ppi density. The style of the phone looks a little similar to previous models. The thinner and lighter form factor is certainly a nice upgrade, but it’s not a definite “must-have” if you already own an iPhone 4S.
Australia saw the first of iPhone on Friday 21 September, the same as the US launch date. It is good news for Australian consumers as Australians had to wait a number of weeks after theUS’s release to buy the new iPhone.
In Brisbane, the Apple hysteria started with people lining Queen Street Mall, and in the northern suburbs, hundreds snaked their way through Westfield Chermside for the release of the latest iPhone. A huge benefit for Australian customers is a larger “retina” display which comes with 4G LTE connectivity that will support the Telstra, Optus and Virgin Mobile 4G networks in Australia.
The feedback from the users all over Australia has been very positive. People have welcomed this new smart phone with open arms, it is yet to see what Samsung has up its sleeves as the introduction of Galaxy S4 gets nearer with each passing day. But it is safe to say iPhone 5 is the best smart phone this world has seen and it seems for a foreseeable future everyone will be dancing on the tones of Apple.
